TUCSON THERAPISTS

Luke Ryan, LAC

Hello! My Name is Luke Ryan and my pronouns are he/they

As a Therapist, I am here to help you navigate different life paths, celebrations and barriers. I utilize an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating holistic wellness into my practice. Some Therapeutic Interventions I use include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. I believe reliance on empowerment and self-discovery are crucial to healing.

I am originally from New Hampshire but have moved all around the country! My education includes receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2015. I received my Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022. The Mental health field has been my passion, previously working in Crisis Therapy, Substance Abuse, and in Rehabilitation Centers, helping those balance somatic and mental health recovery.

I have worked with all different ages to process trauma, anxiety, stress and life crises that can occur. Discovering one's identity is the first step to celebrating our true self. We will work together to learn self-advocacy, and build an authentic self path. As a queer person myself, supporting the LGBTQIA2S+ has long been a passion of mine, and building a psychologically safe space for the community. I work with clients starting with kids at age 10 and up through adults of all ages, including couples and families.

When I am out of the office, I enjoy hiking in the Tucson mountain ranges and exploring coffee shops. I also enjoy yoga, meditation, ceramics and painting.

Tristan Mitchell-Shannon, LAC

Hi there, my name is Tristan and I use she/her or he/him pronouns.

I am a Licensed Associate Counselor, holding a Master’s degree in Community and Trauma Counseling. In 2016 I received my Bachelor’s degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies and I could not be more excited to walk alongside you in your identity journey! No matter what part of it you are in, everyone deserves a kind person to lean on for support. I value autonomy and your ability to make decisions that feel best for you, even if it takes some time to figure out what those are. Therapy, inherently, is a very vulnerable process but seeking it out when life has been challenging is a brave decision.

As an out queer person myself, I have done the necessary work to provide you with a safe, empathetic environment. Seeing your identity in your therapist isn’t the most important part of the process, but it can help to bring an added sense of trust and collaboration to the space. Additionally, I am open to feedback that will make the therapeutic relationship the best one possible for you. As I am an associate counselor, I receive monthly supervision from our owner Kathryn Heltzel.

I am available to work with adults and families 18 and older, including older adults 65+. Working in a therapy style that jives with your needs is of great importance. Given that, I generally work within CBT, feminist, person-centered, and/or DBT modalities.

In my time outside of GIC, I enjoy exploring Arizona and spending time with my animals. My spouse is a vet so we occasionally have fosters. We enjoy traveling together, both near and far. I also doodle, craft, and bake!
