Non binary:

To be Non binary is to be outside of the 2 binary options of gender: male or female. This term is for all the people who do not identify as male or female.

Commonly used pronouns are: They/Them!

For a long time gender has been understood as a binary. A binary by definition means 2. Gender has been understood as having 2 options, male and female. However there are a lot of people who do not connect with the identity of being male or female. Instead neither on fits them. This group of people are non-binary. 

Being non-binary comes with unique challenges. Because culture has a long history of viewing gender as binary it is often hard to educate others. Often times non binary individuals are misunderstood and seen as not valid. A lot of our world is structured around a male/female binary and maneuvering this is challenging. 

Non binary individual can struggle with the pain of gender dysphoria.
